Police: Man beat girlfriend, led chase over 'pride'

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office on Monday released a 911 call in which a woman told a dispatcher she had been dating Eddy for several weeks and that he was aware she was a transgender individual. But when others found out, she said he "freaked out" about it.

"He started beating me up in front of everybody," the 33-year-old woman said.

Police reported Eddy adamantly denied he knew his girlfriend was transgender and planned to "create a show" so he could "reclaim his pride" with his family.

A decision to treat the case as a hate crime will be up to prosecutors, police spokesman Cpl. Tscharna Senn said.

One might wonder what she saw in him. Perhaps she didn't know he's a sexual predator? Or maybe she's got a thing for bad boys? Whatever, it's not her fault he's a scumbag, and I'm certainly not about to victim blame. It's nice to see a media story about a trans woman without pronoun abuse and a long, detailed screed about how "she" is really a "he".

I hope they throw the book at him. I hope it's a nice heavy book, with sharp corners.

I think they're referring to the designation Sexually Violent Predator that certain US States use.

In Florida, a the term "sexual predator" is a legal definition referring to anyone that's been convicted of a sexual offense against a child or one that included any violence.

I think it's pretty much the same in Canada as the fuck that touched my daughter was described in court as a sexual predator.
