You're taking a mask off, one that no longer fits and has been growing increasingly tattered and worn over the years. You've grown out of the past life you led and are now emerging from your cocoon, the wonderful butterfly you've been straining to become.
You are not committing murder, you're just becoming yourself. In a sense, all of us do that every day. The person you were is the foundation of the person you are; every important part of that person lives on within you, every day you give that person honour by being yourself.
